Lauren Alaina and Scotty McCreery Kiss on 'Idol' Finale!

America may have been surprised that 17-year-old Scotty McCreery walked away with the title of season 10's American Idol. But one person who wasn't shocked? Runner-up Lauren Alaina.

"I knew Scotty was gonna win. I knew in my heart and I accepted it," the 16-year-old singer told reporters after the show. "I couldn't pick a more perfect person to get second place to. I know that's cheesy, but he's my best friend."

But after last night's show, it seems that the teen finalists just might be more than friends. When Ryan Seacrest first announced the news, Scotty turned to Lauren and gave her a big kiss on the lips!

"It's been a year since me and Lauren Alaina have tried out now," McCreery said. "Me and her have been together since day one and we're gonna stay together."

Whether or not that sentiment was meant in a romantic way is yet to be determined. But it definitely seems like sparks are flying between these two country crooners!

Shortly after the kiss, Entertainment Tonight asked Lauren directly about their relationship status. "He might be my boyfriend," she replied coyly. "Ask him."

But when reporters poised the question to Scotty, they got a different answer. The singer insisted he's still single. "We've gotten really close, but I don't know about the more than friends stuff," McCreery said.

So, McCreery may not be sure that Alaina is the one -- but he is sure of her talent. "Last night, watching her sing I thought she could really take this thing and run a long way with it," he said. "In that moment I kept saying, 'Lauren's got this. She's such a sweetheart, and we've grown so close.'"

Alaina was noticeably missing from many of the finale's stellar performances, which she attributed to being "under the weather." Admitting it was "a little disappointing," she said she was just thrilled that she got to sing with season 4 champ Carrie Underwood.

"She's so sweet and so talented. I've loved her since -- I picked her to win since her first audition. And she won, and I'm just so happy that I got to sing with her," Alaina said.

And now, with the Idol competition behind her, Alaina is ready to begin her own superstar journey. "I'm looking forward to going on tour and putting out an album and just being who I am."
